Let go of illusion and embrace intuition. Chakra 6 is located at brow center, element is light and color is indigo. A mantra to relate is “I am living my best life”. The balance with this energy center comes from being grounded and in touch with your own unique intuition. Over thinking can create an out of balance.
This chakra can get deep but to keep it light and related to sports, this newsletter will focus on goals and dreams. We know what we truly desire or the ultimate goal we wish to achieve, but then there are the old habits that keep us stagnant. Working on a goal every day means sticking to the training plan, eating to fuel activities and including rest and recovery. Every day contains tasks that are in line with our goals and moves us closer to the finish line.

I relate this to awareness. One example is as an athlete deciding which races to do. If I sit in meditation or journal then this answer will come to me. The ones that I keep thinking about those are the ones that are important to me and a journey that I want to experience. Being out of touch leads me to races that are luring me from a place of fear of missing out (FOMO) or the competition is enticing. Having awareness of my own authenticity and desires makes the decision quite clear. But if I fall into a social media trap of following others then not much is gained and I lose my focus.
About 5 years ago, I had a bad case of FOMO and signed up for races because my friends were doing them. It was my worst racing year yet. I call it my DNF (Did Not Finish) year. It started in February with a 50k DNF, then ended the year with an Ironman DNF and a 100 mile race drop down to a 50 mile. This year was full of huge undertakings for me and pushing the limits. To add more fuel to the fire, I joined a gym for intense power lifting. As I think back on this, I shake my head and roll my eyes. My body rebelled with Rosacea and gut issues. A dermatologist said it was the worst case she had ever seen. This was a turning point and when yoga entered my life which is a story for another day. It took some time (years), but I eventually got a grip on what I truly wanted as a goal and let go of trying to keep up with others. This created better health and more enjoyable racing.
Brow Chakra:
Harmonize polarities.
Get into the body and listen to your intuition.
Yoga poses for the 6th Chakra are ones that help you drop inward. Inversions where the heart is higher than the head such as downdog, child’s pose and forward folds. Another way to tap into your own intuition is being grounded and quiet in easy seat for meditation.
In a recent book review, the assignment was to take a week long break from reading. This is hard for anyone who loves to read. I chose to take a break from social media reading and self help books for one week. It was interesting to see how much more writing I accomplished in that week. Also, with less intake I was able to tap into what was inside of me unaffected by external sources. This is a helpful exercise to do anytime I feel too busy, too confused or too overwhelmed.
Your sport.

No comparison to others.
Drop into your body.

Run your own race.
Keep reaching for your dreams to live your best life.
